What You Can Expect
I am an experienced practitioner with over two decades of clinical accomplishments, research and publications promoting well-being and flourishing in adults for individuals and couples. My background is in psychological assessment and treatment, including employee assistance programs, post-trauma stress debriefing and symptom management, work-related psychological injury assessment and management, medico-legal reports, and counselling.
What Is Important About My Approach
My work is grounded in extensive experience across a range of psychology fields including clinical, forensic, military and organisational. This means you will receive a tailored, personalised approach using evidence-based techniques from a broad range of therapeutic models. My practice has international and national recognition built over the last two decades (see www.doleypsychology.com).
Psychological services are currently available by appointment and onsite on the Queensland Gold Coast. Individual counselling appointments are 80 minute sessions; couple counselling sessions start at 120 minutes. Medico-legal assessments are conducted by arrangement with time requirements for psycho-legal assessments advised on acceptance of the referral.
Fees cover your individual session time, referral call, any subsequent consultation I have with referring health professionals. Treatment services do not attract GST.
Concession fees apply to self-funded full-time students, holders of a pension or health care card, and by arrangement.
Medicare - Medicare rebates are available for a range of mental health treatments, including up to 10 individual consultations and up to 10 group therapy sessions. You’ll need a referral from a general practitioner, psychiatrist or paediatrician to be eligible.
Private Health Insurance - If you have private health insurance you may be able to access a rebate for psychological services through your fund. Please check with your private health fund to confirm any rebates available to you.
For all therapy appointments, a non-refundable booking fee of 50% is to be paid to confirm your appointment.
For Continuous Personal Growth workshops the full seminar fee is required at the time of booking.
Booking fees are by direct debit. This fee will be deducted from the total cost of your session. Full payment of the remaining amount is required at the time of your scheduled appointment and may be made using banking cards (savings/credit), or by cash. Cheques are not accepted. A fee of 1.9% for all card transactions is applied.
If your fees are being paid by a third-party, you will be asked to provide details and verification prior to your first session. If your condition is currently under consideration for compensation, then you are responsible for payments until such time as your claim is approved. In most cases, you will then be able to reclaim this amount from the body providing compensation.
SMS reminders are sent to clients 3 working days (72 hours) prior to your seminar/appointment. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please let me know at least 2 business days (48 hours) in advance, in which case no cancellation fee is payable.
Cancellation fees are currently set at 50% of the full scheduled fee, if you cancel within 48 hours of the appointment. The full fee is payable if you fail to attend an appointment without prior notice or cancel on the day of the appointment.
You can provide notice that you are unable to attend your appointment by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Clients requiring a medico-legal assessment are normally referred through their solicitor or insurance company, but may self-refer. Professional fees are guided by the current APS recommended rate and determined prior to commencement of service. Psychological reports are released to the referrer after full payment has been received, and attract a GST component. A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost is required prior to commencing the assessment, with the balance paid in full to secure release of the report. Payment is by direct debt only.
In certain circumstances, such as if you live in a remote area, or are temporarily interstate, it may be possible to conduct a treatment session using an internet based platform or by telephone. In these cases, normal session fees apply but your Medicare rebate may be impacted.
As mobile reception services are not always available, the easiest way to contact me is by mobile or email.
